I have been informed by AVI ZHENG’S legal advisor that his “…record has been sealed pursuant to court order and all records related thereto have been destroyed.”
At this time, I have not been given authorization to attach the court order.
~Original story:
New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office said in a brief news release that on February 10, a tip of animal cruelty came in so deputies made contact with the complainant.
Deputies obtained a video showing a male assaulting a small young dog with a closed fist.
The release stated: “The dog could be heard whimpering and crying before and after the strikes were delivered.”
The offender was identified as 21-years-old AVI ZHENG (pictured below).
ZHENG was arrested and charged with animal cruelty.
The VOICELESS VICTIM was seized by deputies and signed over by ZHENG to New Hanover Sheriff’s Office Animal Services Unit.
According to the sheriff’s office the furbaby is with the veterinarian for evaluation.
I have checked the online arrest records system maintained by the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office but I could not find any listings for ZHENG.
The sheriff’s office said this is an ongoing investigation and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
